Tonight at 5pm Google are hosting an event to launch their new products, likely the new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL along with a Google Home Mini and possibly a new Chrome OS device named PixelBook.

You can watch the livestream below or follow us on Twitter for some live discussion and opinion!

The new Pixel smartphones have surfaced a handful of times via various leaks in the last few months and are thought to include a new Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, and a minimum 64GB storage. The smaller Pixel 2 will be made by HTC, with the XL this time being put together by LG. Pricing will likely be in the top tier, similar to the latest Apple iPhone 8.

The Google Home Mini is a direct competitor to Amazon’s Echo Dot, a smaller more affordable version of their very successful Echo voice-enabled, smart speaker. We believe it will retail at £49.99, whereas the already available, full-size Google Home is £129.99 and has a beefier speaker arrangement.

Little is known about the PixelBook other than it may feature a 3:2 display of 2400 x 1600 resolution, WACOM stylus support and built-in Google Assistant. Pricing is likely to be over a £1000.

Google may also release Google Lens, a new piece of software that was teased at I/O back in May. Lens allows your camera to “see” objects and surface relevant information about what it sees. Imagine holding up a business card in front of your camera and being able to press on the number on your screen to initiate a call, or point your phone at the back of your router where the WiFi password is and it will instantly connect you to it.

So, come back here at 5pm BST to watch the stream and open up our Twitter on your phone for some discussion on the announcements! See you soon…
